Balancing Responsibility and Creative Pursuits
Balancing our sometimes not so enjoyable responsibilities with our much more exciting creative pursuits can be difficult. In this blog post, we will cover some steps you can take to make this equilibrium less complicated.
Look at Time
Think about how the past week went for you. Were there any time constraints? Over the next 2-4 weeks, where can you add in blocks of time so that your creative pursuits can be prioritized? Small implementations take time to become rooted, which is why we recommend this time frame. Stay consistent. If you have the intention to start today, start today. Carve out space to do something over time so it will be accomplished quicker.
The 3 Big Questions
What is working? What’s Not? Now what? Create a schedule of what works best for you. Consider what your dream week would be like, and try to live it out as best you can.
Be Diligent With Your Finances
You may be self-funding, or have a grant of $10,000 for your business. This is your gas to keep your business going, so assess and reassess your nice-to-haves vs. have-to-haves. Be diligent with your spending. Some founders may have 1 million dollars to start their business, but the downside of that is that they might not be as diligent with their spending. Look at bank accounts, pay attention to where you are allocating funds, double check expenses and cut back where you can.
Arrange Your Personal Life
Where can you simplify? Clear out any distractions and things that may be taking you off course. Notice your space; does it feel conducive to a productive, successful life? Or does it feel chaotic so it’s perpetuating chaos? You can have har-money, or chaos. Are you making decisions from a space of abundance or lack? Get anchored into clarity and peace of mind and focus on the areas that need your attention most.
We hope some of these gems landed for you today. We are here to bring you insights from the lens of business fundamentals and the wellbeing side of things. Where you’ve been is not going to be where you’re going. You are by nature in a transition, in an unleveling. Just be aware of some of the road blocks and blind spots that can keep you stuck sometimes, feeling a bit like quicksand, not going where you want to go. Give yourself time to be grounded, drink lots of water, and tap into your mission, vision, value and purpose and feel that alignment every day. Blessings to you on your journey!
