Syncing Business Strategies With the Seasons

Lila Life focuses on integrative advisory, and one of the ways Linda Andrews incorporates this into her business is by syncing up with the natural seasons. Four times a year, there is a shift of seasons. This aligns with the solstices and equinoxes, and it’s a part of nature’s rhythm. It’s happening no matter what, even if you life in different parts of the planet (southern or northern hemisphere), you are affected by the seasons. Similarly, in business, there are quarterly cycles. We call them Q1-4. In this blog post, we will explain how harmonizing your business with the seasons will allow things to run smoother.

Using the Right Planner

One of the best tools Linda has found for managing her time and lining up with the seasons is the Best Self Co. planner. In it, you can fill out all important dates you need and it has a gorgeous and intuitive design. The planner has two quarters (6 months), but you can also get another model which has just one quarter (3 months).

Sectioning Days

The date of the solstice, or equinox, is around the 20th, 21st and 22nd of each month. Linda chose the 21st to mark the end of a cycle or month, and the 22nd as the beginning of one. Whatever day you choose works, however. Also, in astrology, the 22nd is usually when the energies and seasons shift.

Time Allotment for Important Tasks

The thing Linda loves most about quarters is how they are 90-day segments of time. If you set a goal and say, “I’m going to do xyz from now until the solstice,” it will help you have foresight, get real with time and anticipate what’s coming. Sometimes, we as business owners can overschedule or overcommit to things when we really don’t have the time to do them, so segmenting your months into quarters can help you balance out your priorities. And, each day, take 2 hours of focused time on one or multiple most important task(s). Multitasking is perhaps overcelebrated in society today, when it will probably be most beneficial to focus on one vital task at a time.

Get Outside

Get outside more regularly and be amongst nature. Touch plants, talk to animals, or simply just observe your surroundings. This time in nature will integrate into your business because as you harmonize with the seasons, you will notice you might be more tired and mellow during the winter, and have more energy and time to do more during spring.

Crowd Out Disempowering Habits

The process of syncing up with the seasons is a layering one. As you add in good habits, it will crowd out the disempowering ones. This will have a ripple effect. After an adjustment period, you will feel more rooted into yourself and have an increase in focus and connection to what you are working on.

Review Period

At the end of each month is a great time to review. Let’s say, at the end of Q2 month 1, you take note of what you have finished mapping out for the quarter, and what you should have your eyes on for the remainder of the quarter (months 2&3). Also take into account what you might want to accomplish in Q3.
