Planning Your Quarters for Productivity

Here at Lila Life, we offer Quarterly Alignment sessions. These are opportunities to check in before the next 90 days to see how the past 90 days have been, and what you want to accomplish going forward into the next quarter. In this blog post, we will talk about how planning your quarters can increase productivity for your business.

What’s Working, What’s Not

Take a moment to reflect on your past 90 days. What is going well? What feels good? What were your wins? Also reflect on the not so great things. What is feeling extra sticky? What are the energy suckers? What are the red flags or stop signs? What is taking you off course. There are some things that are in your control, and others that are out of your control. Take stock of which are which, and plan your next steps accordingly.

Now What?

Now that you’ve reviewed what is going well and what isn’t, where do you go from here? This is where you plan what your next 90 days will look like. What is your mission, vision, values and purpose? These are big questions that take introspection and perhaps writing and journaling.

SMART Goals

At Lila Life, we like to focus on SMART goals. This stands for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Time-Defined. Try to make sure all of your goals are SMART goals. Time-Defined is a focal point for planning quarters because we are already working within 90-day windows. You can break 90 days up by months, or divide it in half into 6-7 week halves.

The Two Lenses

There are two lenses we can look at running a business from. First, is business fundamentals. If you’re not in business, think of your own personal finances. If you are in business, as a prerequisite to great business, you have to have your personal finances in order. The other lens is overall wellbeing. What do you need to get back in check? What is out of balance that could be back in balance? When both lenses are in focus, there will be harmoney.

78 actions

Within 90 days, if you take action for one goal 6 days a week, that is 78 actions that can be accomplished toward one goal. This is much more than if you did only one action for that goal per quarter. However, 78 actions is not needed. If you only do two or three actions toward a goal in 90 days, that is still better than 0. Make sure you are setting realistic goals for yourself, and start small if needed.

Anticipate Road Blocks

You may be feeling great about your goals and the progress you have made. Amazing! However, with success comes the tendency to only focus on the positive and not think about what could go wrong. It is useful for every entrepreneur to think ahead to what road blocks may pop up along the way, so that they can be resolved and things can work smoothly again.
